Advocacy programme

Manipur North Economic Development Association (MANEDA) in collaboration with All Disables Union Sadar Hills (ADUSH) organized a one day advocacy programme on the Rights of Persons with Disability at Lhungjang village, Konghom Area, Sadar Hills yesterday.
While speaking at the occasion Mangboi Singsit, Project Officer MANEDA, LFW narrated a brief account of activities in relation with strengthening and upliftment of disable society as well as the PWDs Act 1995, National Trust Act 1999 and UNCRPD.
The Project Officer also emphasized on the importance of disabled certificate and urged all the PWDs in the area to apply for it at the earliest.
"Lack of awareness campaign among the disable people is account for disabled persons becoming burden of the families and victims of every problems as well", opined S Kamlienlal Guite, Information & Publicity Secretary ADUSH while adding that ADUSH stood to connect the Government programme and policies for disabled persons to every individual even to the farthest and remotest villages.
S Kamlienlal Guite also said that ADUSH emphasises on creating awareness balancing with claiming of Rights and benefits at their disposal.
While urging the disable people permanently shed the attitude of staying behind the doors ADUSH Asst Secretary Boipu Kipgen asserted that it is now the right time for the disable people to break the barriers and participated fully in all social activities and show their capability and rights to lived life like the able persons do.
In the meantime, after a short interaction with more than 50 disable persons in the area who attended the programme it came to light that the advocacy awareness programme conducted yesterday happened to be the first of its kind in the area.
