Garo militant lynched

One suspected Garo National Libera- tion (GNLA) cadre succumbed when two cadres of the outfit were critically beaten up by a mob in remote Jaksongram near Baghmara in the South Garo Hills of Meghalaya.
Today's incident happened five days after the brutal killing of a woman by the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) .
The village is situated close to the Bangladesh border about 15 km from the district headquarters of Baghmara.
The incident happened between 4 pm to 5 pm today and the two were taken to the Baghmara Civil Hospital where one succumbed and the other is said to be in critical condition.
According to the police, the two had come to Jaksongram to serve demand notes and had even tried to take a villager to the nearby jungle.
Angry villagers surrounded the two and tied them to bamboos.
They were then soundly beaten up by the villagers.
The two were taken to the town of Baghmara and handed over to the police.
They were taken to the Baghmara Civil Hospital where one was declared dead.
The dead cadre has been identified as Niku Marak (26) while the other cadre is yet to be identified as he is unable to speak.
