Imphal, June 08 2014:
Stating it is time for all the indigenous peoples of the North East region to understand the likely impacts of globalization and India's Look East Policy, AMUCO and UCM have categorically asserted that only unity and co-existence can secure the future of all indigenous peoples.
According to a leaflet published by the Observation Committee, the 13th Great June Uprising, Unity Day, India's LEP would not bring any benefit to the people of Manipur except for providing opportunities to work as porters.
In the meantime, the incessant influx of migrants has put all the indigenous peoples under serious threats of total extinction.
But the alleged puppet Government has not taken up concrete measures to thwart the threat.

The demand is not for complete ban on entry of outsiders into Manipur.
The demand is about putting in place a systematic arrangement under which entry, exit and living of non-Manipuris in the State are monitored.
Absence of such a system has become a major factor for many untoward incidents.
To face all these challenges, indigenous peoples need to stand united rather than confronting each other.
Resolving the issue of insurgency and restoring normalcy in the society would be a welcome change for the people of Manipur.
But the people of Manipur would always fight against the Government of India's attempt to disintegrate Manipur by using some insurgent groups as the cat's paw.
People would fight against all nefarious plots to ignite ethnic conflict in Manipur in the name of tackling insurgency.
All Manipuris lived, have been living and would live together always.
The voice of hill people for unity is now growing louder.
People should be always wary of self seeking pseudo leaders who take pride in factionalism.
It also called upon all indigenous people of Manipur to collectively safeguard the integrity of Manipur as done in the past.
AMUCO and UCM would never remain silent to any challenge to the territorial integrity of Manipur by the Government of India in their attempt to appease leaders of NSCN-IM.
The hidden agendas of 'supra state body' and 'alternative arrangement' are being closely watched by the people of Manipur.
It is also crucial to keep a close vigil on the Government of India's covert policy of instigating ethnic conflicts by using Kuki and Meitei armed groups which are under suspension of operation agreements.
Any situation of conflict resulting from Greater Nagalim, Kuki State and other quixotic demands would be disastrous for all the indigenous people.
The future of all indigenous peoples lies in peaceful coexistence, it asserted.
As in the previous years, a mammoth public meeting would be held at Kekrupat to take a collective decision on the occasion of the 13th Great June Uprising, Unity Day on June 18.AMUCO and UCM further appealed to all the people of Manipur to attend the anniversary function and participate in the public meeting.
