Imphal, June 10 2010:
Troops of 26 Assam Rifles of Red Shield Division provided relief to hundreds of civilians stranded on NH-53 due to heavy rain and landslides on June 9 and 10.According to a press release of PRO PIB (DW), the troops braving inclement weather provided food and water to the stranded passengers, drivers and cleaners of more than 400 trucks and buses carrying essential goods from Jiribam to Imphal.
The troops also provided diesel to the dozers and helped in clearing the mud of landslides.
Medical aid was also provided to one of the passengers who was complaining of high BP and chest pain.
