Imphal, June 10 2010:
Public Health Engineering Department has informed the general public that supply of water from Singda treatment plant would be suspended for the next three days.
Unprecedented heavy rains and subsequent flash floods in catchment areas have damaged the raw water main line from Polok Intake to Kangchup treatment plant at three different points, said a press release.
The Intake arrangements at Leimakhong have also been submerged by flood and raw water inflow from Singda dam to Kangchup Treatment Plant has become too muddy to undergo treatment, added the release.
