Imphal, June 10 2010:
A woman in her mid-30s, who was arrested by police commandos on an earlier occasion as a KCP activist, has been found shot dead at Phailen village area of Sadar Hills while another youth has been seriously wounded in firing by unidentified persons at an Imphal West district area this evening.
According to a police source, the victim's body was discovered in the early hours today near the sadar Hills village.
The area, however, falls under the jurisdiction of Sekmai police station under Imphal West district.
Police suspect the woman might have been shot last night.
After police deposited the corpse at RIMS morgue family members identified the victim as one Gurumayum Ibemcha alias Premlata Devi (34) d/o Khomei Sharma of Kontha Khabam in Imphal East district.
ibemcha, who has a bullet injury on the head, was arrested by police commandos about a year ago on charge of being KCP-MC activist.
She used to lend out money at Khwairamband Keithel, said family sources who maintained that after recieving a phone call on her mobile handset Ibemcha left home at about 8.30 am yesterday telling family members that she is going to Sekmai.
Sekmai police have registered a case on the matter.
Meanwhile, unidentified persons, shot, wounded and abandoned a youth at Haobam Marak Chingtham Leikai Keisham Leirak at around 4 pm today.
As per police report, the injured youth sustained injuries after being fired at by two persons who had accompanied him till the incident spot.
The injured person has been identified as one Kakchingtabam Victorraj Sharma (25) s/o Dilipkumar of Kongba Kshetri leikai, and is presently admitted at RIMS Hospital in serious condition.
