A women was shot dead by miscreants suspected to be undergrounds while another severely injure in separate incidents occurred at different parts of the state today.
A woman of around 30-year of age was shot dead by gunmen suspected to be undergrounds near Phailen Khongnangpokpi village seven kilometer northeast of Sekmai police station of Imphal west district.
Police retrieved dead body later identified as Gurumayum Ibemcha @ Premlata (30) daughter of late Khomei of Kontha Ahallup in Imphal east in the morning, at about 6 am and deposited at RIMS morgue, Imphal for official process.
She had bullet injury mark at the head.
Family said that around five month back, she was arrested by the police as activist of KCP (MC) with a demand letter of the party and in jail for some time.
She was missing after she left home yesterday, at about 8 am.
A woman named Ibemcha had called out her for going to a work at Sekmai.
She once eloped with a man from Langol but separated without married.
Family is yet to know the motive behind the shooting to death of Premalata.
Yet in another unrelated incident, suspected underground activists shot to injure a youth at Haobam Marak Chingtham Leikai under Singjamei police station of Imphal west this evening, at about 4.30 pm.
Local sources said that two gunmen who came together with the injured on foot pumped a bullet at the head and left the spot hurriedly.
He immediately rushed at RIMS hospital where he was later referred to Shija Hospital as his condition became serous.
No sooner had the incident occurred, a team of Imphal west police commandos conducted a search operation to find out the culprits.
