Imphal, June 10 2010:
Zeliangrong Youth Front (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) and Anal Lenruwl Tangpi (Anal Naga Students' Union) have decried the 'arrest warrant issued by the Government of Manipur against UNC president Samson Remei and ANSAM president David Choro.
In a separate statement, general secretary of ZFY-AMN Thuiring Panmei said that issuing arrest warrants against the two leaders of the Nagas instead of trying to appreciate and understand the resentment and genuine grievances of the Nagas may alienate the Nagas and other tribals even further.
This particular act of insolence only goes to show that the Government is communal, Panmei said, adding that the stand taken by the two leaders was done on behalf of the tribals and not for their self interest.
Only when the genuine grievances of the tribals are addressed meaningfully, there can peace and communal harmony, Panmei said.
On the other hand, in another statement ALT president Isreal Pashel observed that terming the Naga leader as hardened criminals has provoked the Naga community.
