Senapati, April 27 2023:
The Lepaona Naga Union (LNU) appealed to all concerned for quick restoration of the Barak Bailey Bridge at Koide Biisho before the onset of the monsoon season.
LNU president V Thaisii in a statement said that the construction of Barak Bailey Bridge at Koide Biisho has reached a critical stage where further delays could cause significant setbacks and impact negatively on the lives of many villages in the district.
The bridge is a vital link connecting more than 44 Poumai villages to the market, Government offices and health institutions in the district.

In this regard, LNU appealed to the Chief Executive Engineer to release necessary funds in his emergency fund as promised earlier.
The bridge is essential not only for the convenience and accessibility of the residents but also for the growth and development of the surrounding areas as well as connecting routes to neighbouring districts too.
Mention may be made that paddy field and land owners have issued a public notice to restrict all kinds of movements along their paddy fields with the arrival of cultivation season after April 30 .
On the other hand, the Maram Phaibung Road Development Committee has decried the failure of the department concerned to initiate work under PMGSY Phase XI from Maram Purul Atongba Road covering 22 kms.
The work programme was funded by the Ministry of Rural Development, Govt of India and the date of maintenance started from February 2, 2021 and has been scheduled to complete by February 1, 2026 .
However, the Committee alleged that no maintenance work has reached the area leading to lots of potholes, left over portions for slab culverts and non-maintenance of drainage between the stretches till date.
Further the Committee has sought the attention of the authority concerned to sanction necessary bills to start the maintenance process of the said work so as to avoid any untoward incident that may come up due to non maintenance of the said road.
