3rd Social Work Fest begins

The 3rd Social Work Fest organised by the Department of Social Work, Don Bosco College (Autonomous), Maram began today under the theme, "Inclusive, leaving no one behind" .
Four institutions from Manipur namely St Joseph College, Ukhrul; St Xavier College, Senapati; Lungniila Elizabeth College, Senapati; Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Regional Campus Manipur and two institutions from Nagaland namely St Joseph University, Chumoukedima and NEISSR (North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research), Chumoukedima, participated in the fest.
The fest was jointly inaugurated by Capt Azmeera Bobby, first tribal lady commercial pilot; S Sarat Kumar Sharma, president Association of Professional Social Workers (APSW) and Medovi RH, education secretary NSF.

The programme began with the hoisting of flag by Capt Azmeera Bobby, followed by invocation from Fr Sebastian Jose, Rector of the college.
Lokho Athishu, HoD of Social Work DBC (A) M, delivered the welcome address.
Speaking on the occasion, Capt Azmeera Bobby elaborated on inclusive growth, reaching the unreached on various platforms by enlightening the students on entrepreneurship, education and employability.
Special focus was given in the aviation and aerospace segment where DBC will introduce a centre of excellence in aviation and aerospace bridging the industries skill gap for the first time in the northeast connecting various schemes.
In the technical session, Dr D Apao spoke on the topic, "Healthy Society: The Prerequisite to Social Development" and Kumam Davidson Singh spoke on "LGBTQ and Social Work" .
Solo song competition, street play competition and Cultural Show competition were also conducted as part of the event.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Evergreat Wanglar, assistant professor and convener of the fest.
