WW-II commemorative plaque unveiled

A World War-II commemorative plaque was unveiled at Maibam Lotpa Ching, Nambol today.
The memorial plaque at the historic site was jointly unveiled by Indo-Japan Friendship Association (IJFA), Tokyo, Japan, Indian National Army Japanese Reception Association (INAJRA), Nambol and Numit Otentousama Chata.
Former Union Minister Padmashri Thounaojam Chaoba, INAJRA president L Budhachandra, IJFA chairman Nakajima Keiji, general secretary Miura Mamoru, Manami Japanese Restaurant general manager Oishi Takenari were present.
At the event, Padmashri Th Chaoba said that the unveiling of the commemorative plaque will deepen the historic relation the Japanese army had with Maibam Lotpa Ching (Red Hills) and the people there during World War-II.
Stating that Maibam Lotpa Ching is a historic and a very important site for the Japanese, Th Chaoba urged the Indo-Japan Friendship Association to further strengthen their ties with the place and set up a hospital, a park and a Japanese language school in memory of the Japanese soldiers of WW-II .
