ANSAM's blockade comes into force

With no indication from the side of the State to implement the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) it signed with ANSAM, the students' body has enforced its proposed economic blockade with effect from 6 pm of November 3 .
ANSAM adopted a decision on 31st October, 2023 at Tamei Headquarters, Tamenglong to impose an economic blockade during its second legislative assembly.
The assembly attended by constituent units and subordinate bodies of ANSAM unanimously resolved to resume and intensify the suspended agitation from 3rd November in case the State Government fails to implement the MoA signed on 26th October, 2023 wherein the State Government assured to restore internet connectivity in the State within five days (in three working days) subject to assessment of law and order condition and to declare the result of the recruitment exam to 190 (145+45 ST special drive) posts of Assistant Professors to be engaged on contract basis for one academic session on or before 2nd November 2023 .
ANSAM has been demanding lifting of the ban on internet/mobile data services but the State Government issued an order on October 31 whereby suspension of internet/mobile data services was further extended till November 5 .
ANSAM has said that the economic blockade on the highways would continue until the MoA signed between Govt.of Manipur and ANSAM is implemented.
Taking serious note of the shortage of teachers in Govt Colleges, ANSAM urged the Govt of Manipur to implement the agreed point No 2 of the MoA to declare the result of 190 (145+45 ST special drive) posts of Assistant Professors on or before 2nd November, 2023 as assured by the Chief Minister of Manipur.
Meanwhile, Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA), Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation Manipur (RNSOM), Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) and Naga Students' Union Chandel (NSUC) have endorsed the agitation called by ANSAM.
The SDSA has informed the general public that it fully endorses the decision of ANSAM's second Legislative assembly to resume the suspended agitation for breach of the agreement signed between representatives of ANSAM and the State Government on October 26 .
The SDSA also appealed to the general public for full cooperation and understanding in achieving the objectives of
the agitation.
