Meitei Leepun chief escapes life bid

Meitei Leepun chief Mayengbam Pramotchand Singh, also known as M Pramot came under attack from unidentified armed miscreants on a roadside in front of a shop located some distance away from the northern gate of NIT Langol at around 7.10 am today under Lamphel Police Station.
The incident happened when the vehicle of M Pramot was parked on the roadside to buy some stuff.
At that time, some unknown persons wearing masks who came in a blue colour car from the opposite direction fired six rounds of bullet toward the vehicle of Pramot and his driver.
After firing the bullets from close range, the unknown armed miscreants sped away from the spot toward Lamphel.
No one was injured in the incident.

Meitei Leepun chief M Pramot and his driver Johny Loukrakpam were on their way to a meeting at Meitei Leepun office today morning located at Langol.
Six bullet marks were seen in the middle and rear parts of the vehicle on the right side.
Three other bullet marks were also found on the wall and iron shutter of the nearby shop.
Soon after the incident, a team of Lamphel police arrived at the site and took stock of the situation.
A team from the State Forensic Science Laboratory also arrived at the spot and carried out an inquest of the site and its surrounding areas, and recovered three empty cases of ammunition.
Lamphel police station has registered a regular FIR for investigation of the case.
Meanwhile, local people have strongly condemned the incident and appealed to all concerned not to repeat such acts in the area.
