Thoubal, November 03 2023: Condemning the killing of Chingtham Anand, SDPO Moreh, a protest demonstration was staged yesterday evening at Babu Bazar in Thoubal district by the locals of the region.

The protestors also demanded enforcement of additional State forces in Tengnoupal district to drive out Chin-Kuki narco terrorists who have been engaged in various forms of illegal activities including relentless attacks on civilians.

The protest demonstration was organised by Meitei Community Joint Co-ordinating Committee, an apex body of 18 local clubs of Waithou, Kiyam, Kiyam Siphai, Haokha and Thoubal Khunou.

The attendees also observed two minute silence in the honour of Anandkumar and prayed that the departed may rest in peace in the Heavenly abode.

Speaking at the sidelines, one of the leaders of the committee, Ak Chitreshowri Devi strongly condemned the cold blooded killing of Anandkumar by suspected kuki narco-terrorists while he was performing his duty on October 31 .

She urged the Central and State Government to deploy additional State forces in Tengnoupal district to check the atrocities of kuki terrorists and to ensure that law and order situation is brought effectively under control.

It is the need of the hour that the narco-terrorists are dealt with effectively by taking stringent legal actions against them and award befitting punishments for their atrocities and illegal activities, she added.

She further appealed to all concerned to enforce equal law in the valley and hills across the State.

She also demanded the removal of Central forces from Manipur and provide adequate power to the State forces to protect the indigenous people of the State.

The protestors raised slogans such as 'We condemn attack on State forces', 'Wipe out narco terrorists', 'Deploy adequate State forces in Tengnoupal district', 'Centre should take up strict actions against kuki terrorists', etc during the protest.
