Imphal, November 03 2023:
Key functionaries of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) met the family members of slain senior police officer Chingtham Anand Kumar at his residence at Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai and offered condolence.
Ch Anand Kumar was the SDPO of Moreh.
The Congress leaders who met the family of Ch Anand were former Chief Minister O Ibobi, MPCC president K Meghachandra, CWC member Gaikhangam and MLAs Th Lokeswor and K Ranjit.
The visiting team met the parents, spouse, children, siblings and relatives of the deceased and offered their condolences.
Speaking to the media later, Ibobi said that misfortune which took place at Eastern Shine Ground at Moreh on October 31 could have been prevented had the Government listened to the voice of the people and deployed adequate security forces at Moreh in advance.
Saying that the violence in Manipur has been lingering on for half a year now but the Government sidesteps from the issue instead of solving it, the former CLP leader asked if the Centre even takes Manipur as a part of the country.
Why are the Government and all its agencies still not taking actions if they are suspicious of foreign groups having a hand in Manipur violence, Ibobi asked and added that the Government needs to act fast if the case in Manipur is indeed of external aggression.
Do the Governments at the Centre and the State want the bloodshed to continue, he asked and condemned the Governments for leaving the fate of Manipuris to themselves.
