Imphal, November 03 2023:
The Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Co-ordinating Committee for Peace (KIKJCC) has categorically stated that they won't buy the "there is relative peace in Manipur" line until all the Kuki MLAs who advocate disintegration of Manipur are disqualified and put behind bars.
Addressing a press briefing at Manipur Press Club today, KIKJCC convenor Laishram (ongbi) Mema Devi said that there is no peace at all in Manipur and those who hinder the peace building initiative are the 10 Kuki MLAs.
All these MLAs who have been demanding separate administration for their people have taken an oath to protect the unity of Manipur and safeguard the people and as such their demand is against the Constitution, she said.
The Biren Singh led BJP Government in Manipur should answer why the 10 Kuki MLAs are still not disqualified from the State Assembly, Mema continued and urged the Government to dismiss all the Kuki MLAs who allegedly are colluding with Kuki militants to break the State apart and put them behind bars.
Taking exception to the killing of an on-duty police officer at Moreh recently, Mema asked the Indian Government to declare those who killed Moreh SDPO Ch Anand Kumar as terrorists and take action against them.
Asking why the State police personnel were allowed to enter Moreh and carry out search operations only after the killing of the decorated police officer, Mema said the Government is answerable for the development at Moreh.
Lauding the Government for announcing ex-gratia and job to the next of kin of Moreh SDPO, she expressed desire for the Government to provide compensation to other police personnel and civilians who got killed in the conflict too.
She also urged the Government to abrogate the SoO pact with Kuki militants.
Later, the gathering observed silence for a minute for the departed soul of SDPO Ch Anand to rest in eternal peace.
