Imphal, November 03 2023:
Despite acknowledging the fact that foreign hands are involved in the present crisis in Manipur, inaction by the union government on the matter could be a clear indication of scheming disintegration of Manipur and abetting creation of another country, remarked Congress Legislative Party leader Okram Ibobi.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of visit by a Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee delegation to the Kwakeithel Chingtham Leikai residence of late Moreh SDPO Chingtham Anandkumar to share the grief and sorrow of the bereaved family, on Friday, Ibobi lamented that Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to undermine the 6-month-old crisis in Manipur.
The national leaders are acting as if Manipur is not a part of India, he said, while adding that this is also the question everyone has been raising to the union government.
The ministry of external affairs, NIA and the state BJP unit have acknowledged presence and involvement of foreign hands in the current crisis in Manipur, Ibobi pointed out, and enquired as to why the union government is still remaining silent in-spite of being well aware about the same.
He also questioned whether the government of India is deliberately letting Manipur to disintegrate for carving out another country.
Such indifferent attitude towards Manipur which is a part of India is condemnable in the strongest terms, Ibobi said.
Expressing sorrow over the death of SDPO Anandkumar, he opined that such unfortunate incidents in sensitive areas could have been averted had additional forces been deployed in time.
The Congress team also included MPCC president K Meghachandra, CWC member Gaikhangam, Sugnu MLA K Ranjit, Khundrakpam MLA Th Lokeshwar, MPCC spokespersons Tilotama and Bhupendra and other office bearers.
