Speaking on the occasion, newly elected Council president Hijam Roshan expressed that the instability in Manipur is due to the consecutive governments continuing to enforce colonial laws, meant to divide the people and render the state incapable of defending its own territory.
However, peace and harmony between the warring communities would be possible only when we respect and love each other, he opined.
Regarding the 20 th Federal Executive Council 2023-25, he informed that certain action plans and activities have been worked out, which include helping to improve the economy of the state; continuation of the 'Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamsi (Let's study well)' academic campaign and 'A Drug Use Prevention Campaign', in addition to setting up a Human Rights Education Cell.
In his speech, Prof N Mohilal said that education is a must for all in all aspects.
Even the British conducted a survey of the education system in India at the time of taking over the country.
He continued that Manipur had many structures which need to be assessed.
Additionally, there is the need to assess the style of imparting education in the different areas of the valley apart from determining the compatibility of the teacher's service with the student's productivity.
He also emphasised the need for recruiting trained teachers from outside Manipur, while also highlighting the role students have to play in rectifying the education system of the state.
The different communities indigenous to the state need to learn to work together for bringing a positive change in the state, if we are to preserve Manipur's integrity and unity.
It is quite possible that the next conflict could be on language issue, he cautioned, and suggested the need for pre-awareness to counter the same.
Altogether, 45 people took oath as new-office bearers of MSF's 20th Federal Executive Council 2023-25 .
