Imphal, November 03 2023:
Following deployment of additional State forces and imposition of curfew, law and order has been restored in the border town of Moreh.
In the aftermath of the cold blooded killing of SDPO Chingtham Anand Kumar by Kuki militants on October 31, stringent security measures including imposition of curfew have been put in place to bring the restive situation under control.
Starting from October 31 itself, combined teams of State force and BSF have been conducting search operations at suspected hide-outs and shelters of Kuki militants in the border town and adjoining areas, sources informed.
The security forces have wrested control of the areas which were earlier dominated by Kuki militants.
Moreover, a number of bunkers built by Kuki militants have been dismantled.
In the wake of the intensified search operations, Kuki militants have fled away from Moreh area.
Moreover, criminal activities like robbery, theft etc have declined significantly.
State forces deployed in the border town have been doing their duties with full alertness and they have been patrolling several areas of the border town day and night, said the sources.
Meanwhile, deployment of army troops has also been scaled up in different pockets of Moreh.
