CCpur, November 03 2023:
A duty post established 500 metres beyond the buffer zone, which is a little downward from Khousabung and L Phainom villages in Churachandpur district, was destroyed by womenfolk of the area following an altercation with security forces around 1.30 pm on Friday.
According to L Phainom village chief L Gincha, central forces are manning the buffer zones at Khousabung village, L Phainom and nearby villages (marked from the high canal) between the hills and valley but many unwanted things are happening since the arrival of central forces including shifting of duty post beyond buffer zone in close proximity to the existing villages.
As a result, safety of villagers and their lives are at stake as the central forces started acting against the interest of civilians and state forces from the valley indulged in activities detrimental to peaceful settlement of the conflict.
Villagers are not against deployment of central forces but oppose setting up of duty post beyond high canal as it will pose threat to lives of people living in Bunglow, Khousabung, L Phainom and some other nearby villages, L Gincha said, adding that womenfolk and village leaders went to the duty post in question and destroyed the same after an altercation broke out between villagers and security forces.
