Imphal, September 30 2023:
The State Government seems to have fallen into the trap laid by Kuki militants and the Government of India, said the All Manipur United Club's Organisation (AMUCO) .
In a statement, AMUCO said that it is saddening to see the Government remaining unaware of the incidents seemingly employed to pit public against the Government.
It is surprising that the Government had to turn their back on people fighting against the divisive forces rather than facing the divisive forces.
Their inability to face the enemy for so long has forced the people to agitate and the use of excessive force has further caused more resentment and loss of confidence in the Government, it said.
The cycle of resentment-protest-excessive police action-injury-resentment seems to have taken over in the valley in recent days and it has only pleased the divisive forces, it said.
The viral photos of dead students circulated recently has drawn agitation from the public, mainly students.
But instead of taking up actions against the perpetrators, the State Government used excessive force against the students in school uniforms seeking justice for the two students thereby causing grievous injuries to hundreds of students, it said.
People will not accept such tactics to keep the people in the loop of protest and violence, it said.
AMUCO also questioned the attitude of Ministers/MLAs who championed for justice of two victims of the May 4 incident but remained silent when two students were allegedly held captives and killed in cold blood.
Instead of dancing to the tunes of Kuki militants and MLAs, the State Government should know who are the real enemy, it said and reminded that the Government has done nothing against the people behind the separatist movement.
Questioning whether the State police has lost all sensibilities that they have to resort to brute force against their own brothers, sisters and mothers, AMUCO went on to say that the State Government should bear all the responsibilities for the casualties caused and the treatment of the students.
The State Government should take immediate actions against the irresponsible security personnel, it said while cautioning that more vicious and violent forms of protest may be witnessed in case of inaction.
