NIA arrests Kuki militant engaged in stoking ethnic clash in Manipur

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday arrested Seiminlun Gangte in a case related to a transnational conspiracy by Myanmar and Bangladesh based leadership of terror outfits to wage war against India by exploiting the current ethnic unrest in Manipur.
The case was registered suo moto by the NIA on 19.07.2023 (July 19) at New Delhi.
Sources said that the arrested man is a high ranking cadre of an armed group of the Kuki-Chin militants.
The source however did not divulge to which group the arrested cadre belongs to.
Investigation of RC 24/2023/NIA/DLI by NIA revealed that Myanmar and Bangladesh based militant groups have entered into a conspiracy with a section of militant leaders in India to indulge in incidents of violence with an intention to drive a wedge between different ethnic groups and to wage war against the Government of India.
"This case is related to conspiracy by Chin-Kuki-Mizo militant groups with other Chin-Kuki-Mizo militants based in Myanmar and Bangladesh to indulge in violence by undertaking territorial strikes with an intention to create a separate State inhabited by the Chin-Kuki-Mizo tribes by carving out territories from India, Bangladesh and Myanmar and to wage a war against Government of India," said the NIA.
Weapons smuggling is another case that has been slapped against the arrested accused, said a source.
And for this purpose, the aforementioned leadership have been providing funds to procure arms, ammunition and other types of terrorist hardware which are being sourced both, from across the border, as well as from other terrorist outfits active in North Eastern States of India to stoke the current ethnic strife in Manipur.
The said accused has been taken to New Delhi after his arrest and will be produced before the Jurisdictional Court.
Giving details the Police Control Room in their daily update today said that the militant was arrested in connection with the Kwakta bomb blast case on June 22 .
Three persons were injured in the bomb blast which were allegedly triggered by Kuki militants.
The three injured persons included two children when a car bomb exploded beside a culvert located between Kwakta and Phougakchao on June 22 at about 7.15 pm and which has since come to be known as the Kwakta bomb blast case.
The militant was arrested at about 2 pm today and he has been taken to Delhi for further questioning on an Indigo flight at about 4 pm.
The NIA team which arrested Seiminlun Gangte was led by Additional SP.
