Crisis instigated by people scheming to disintegrate Manipur: CM

Chief minister N Biren distributed one-time financial assistance to beneficiaries of Special Scheme for Education of Children of Labour Card Holders staying in relief camps.
Speaking at the distribution programme organised by Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board at the CM Secretariat on Saturday, N Biren reiterated that the current crisis in the state is instigated by a group of people scheming to disintegrate Manipur.
Even though all are facing serious hardships due to the crisis, we are still living together by the grace of God, he said.
The chief minister informed that construction of prefabricated houses at different places for relocation of displaced persons are in the completion stage while pointing out that among the displaced persons, those whose houses were not burnt or razed to the ground in the violence have started resettling in their original places of settlement.
For those people whose houses have been destroyed, the government is planning to build new houses for them, he informed.
The CM explained that under Special Scheme for Education of Children of Labour Card Holders staying at Relief Camps, the government is providing a sum of Rs 5000 each to those labour card holders staying in relief camps so as to help in the education of their children to some extent.
He also stated that the state government had already distributed financial assistance of Rs 1000 each to persons staying in relief camps in the first phase and informed that another Rs 1000 would soon be distributed as second phase relief.
Expressing words of motivation to those staying in different relief camps, N Biren stated that the government has been taking up all possible measures to resettle all the displaced people and to provide necessary assistance.
Water Resources minister Awangbow Newmai, Transport minister Khasim Vashum, advocate general Lenin Hijam, Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board chairman K Saratkumar Singh and chief secretary Dr Vineet Joshi also attended the programme among others.
Under the special scheme, one-time financial assistance of Rs 5000 shall be provided for education of children to every family having valid labour card and staying in the relief camps set up by the Government of Manipur.
