Imphal, September 30 2023:
BJP Manipur Pradesh has appealed to BJP National president JP Nadda to persuade Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give an appointment to the Manipur MLAs who are currently camping at New Delhi for the sake of the people of Manipur.
It also sought revocation of Article 355, if the same Article has been imposed in the State and restore full command of the Unified Command to the Chief Minister as it would re-establish full confidence and trust to the Government in dealing with the situation.
The tide of public anger and protest is slowly turning, putting the sole onus of this prolonged crisis on the failure of the Government in dealing with the situation, said a memorandum submitted by BJP Manipur Pradesh to the party's National president JP Nadda.
It also said, "We know that our Government is also working hard day and night so as to bring back normalcy in the State." The memorandum highlighted some key demands and collective wishes of the people which include immediate restoration of free flow of traffic along the two National Highways for which the Centre and the State should do everything even to the extent of using force such as arresting those unwanted elements who are trying to create trouble along the highways.
Other demands/wishes highlighted through the memorandum are immediate resettlement and rehabilitation of all the displaced persons at their original places of residence as soon as possible and also to see that they get whatever that has been promised by the Government in terms of compensation for the lost houses and ex-gratia for the injured and deceased persons.
Effective implementation of the SoO (Suspension of Operations) ground rules.
Any violation of the ground rules should be considered as an act of terrorism and should be dealt with accordingly by both the Centre and State to the extent that whoever violates the ground rules are treated as terrorists.
To see that all possible help and support are given to Moirangthem Anand Singh who was arrested by the NIA in connection with the recent crisis in the State.
To completely destroy all poppy plantations in the State and establish a joint monitoring committee for constant vigilance over poppy plantations with representatives drawn from the civil societies organisations, among others.
To apprise the Ministry of Home Affairs for early completion of biometric capture of illegal Myanmar immigrants so as to enable early implementation of NRC (National Registrar of Citizenship) in the State.
The memorandum further urged JP Nadda to persuade Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give an appointment to the joint MLAs' team who are now holding up in New Delhi for the sake of the people of Manipur.
Copies of the same memorandum signed by BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda Devi and seven other top functionaries were also sent to BL Santosh (BJP National Gen Secy.
Organisation) and Dr Sambit Patra (BJP Manipur in-charge) .
