Contraband seized, wreath-laying ceremony held

Imphal, September 30 2023:
Troops of 10 Assam Rifles (South) foiled cross-border smuggling of Areca Nuts along the Indo-Myanmar border in Kamjong on Friday and recovered 442 bags of Areca nuts (50 bags of 100 kg and 392 bags of 80 kg) .
The contraband items worth approximately Rs 4.3632 crore were being illegally smuggled into India in ten Shaktiman vehicles through the international border, according to a release of PRO IGAR(S), adding that the seized items along with the apprehended individuals have been handed over to the Forest Department for further legal proceedings.
On the other hand, Assam Rifles of IGAR (S) organised a wreath-laying ceremony at Shangshak War Memorial on Thursday during which tribute were paid to Gajendra Kaushik and Kewal Singh both rifleman, who made the supreme sacrifice while on duty.
Meanwhile, troopers of Assam Rifles organised an awareness lecture on climate change at Zou Khunou in Churachandpur district on Thursday while a tree plantation drive was conducted'at Shangshak Village in Ukhrul district on Friday.
Assam Rifles also provided medical assistance to a 39-year old snake bite victim in Churachandpur district on Thursday.
The victim received prompt medical attention from the medical team and necessary medical aid was administered, thus saving his life.
