Non-performing DGP advised to resign

Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykisan has said that DGP Rajiv Singh, who was sent to the state by the Centre to maintain law and order, should resign if unable to perform his duty satisfactorily and continue to remain silent like a timid.
MLA Kh Joykisan took part in the 127th birth anniversary of Hijam Irabot jointly organised by Socialist Students' Union of Manipur (SSUM) and Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation (TAKDO) at the relief camp opened at Thangmeiband Tombisana High School, here, on Saturday.
Speaking at the event participated by inmates of the relief camp and Thangmeiband locals, Kh Joykisan asserted that he will work as per pulse of the people despite being a ruling MLA.
"I will praise the government if it is good and continue to raise voice against wrongful acts of the government and government forces," he said.
The Union home minister entrusted Rajiv Singh as the new DGP to maintain law and order in the state but what action the DGP has taken up when the state and Central forces used excessive force against young students who were merely shouting slogans against the killing of two students.
As the DGP, he should take moral responsibility and resign from the post, Joykisan reiterated and termed Rajiv Singh as a timid person who could not be relied upon.
According to Joykisan, none of the legislators are silent but working at their level best for the people though could not express opinion independently due to the prevailing situation in the state.
He said that politicians should not take undue advantage of the present situation but rather work together to save the motherland in coordination with the people.
The event was also attended by SSUM president S Yaima, social activist Sapamcha Kangleipal Meitei, TAKDO advisor M Inakhunbi, BJP Thangmeiband Mandal president M Rajendro and BJP Thangmeiband Mahila Mandal president RK Geetabali.
