Birth anniversary of Jananeta Irawat observed

Imphal, September 30 2023: Irawat Celebration Committee (ICC), Manipur and Manipur State Shumang Leela Council jointly observed the 127th birth anniversary of Jananeta Irawat at Iboyaima Shanglen, Palace Compound, here, on Saturday.

Poknapham editor Aribam Robindro received the 'Thiyam Meghachandra Journalist Award' during the observance.

A rally was taken out along with a life-size photo of Irawat from Irawat Bhawan to the event venue where the gathering paid floral tributes to the photo.

As a part of the observance, awards were distributed to distinguished people and associations in appreciation of their contributions in their respective fields.

The observance was attended by Irabot Celebration Committee president Dr M Nara, MSC CPI control commission chairman Langol Iboyaima, state secretary L Thoiren, All Manipur Nupi Marup founder M Kadambini, Manipur Nuipi Marup president Y Ibeni, former state secretary L Sotinkumar, ex-MLA Samuel Jendai and Manipur State Shumang Leela Council president A Purnimashi as presidium members.

Hijam Irawat Ningsing Mana was given to Apunba Manipur Matam Ishei Kanglup (AMMIK); Thiyam Meghachandra Journalist Award to Poknapham editor Robindro Sharma; Moirangthem Ibohal award to Khaidem Mangol; Human Rights Activist.

Ng Mohendra award to Babloo Loitongbam; Thokchom Bir award to All Manipur Nupi Marup member Laishram Mema; Thokchom Boro Integrity Award to M Muheijuddin; Thingbaijam Nongyai award to Imphal West JP Level Cooperative Lamshang , president Meitram Kesho; Thangjam Babu award to Nongmaithem Jillangamba; Senjam Chandramani award to Nandeibam Brajabati; Thingbaijam Ngangbi award to Elangbam Saphabi alias Memcha; Nongthombam Iboton Teacher Award to Moirangthem Sunita Devi; Heikham Rebati Award to Yaikhom Ibochouba; Kh Anand Prashad memorial award to video journalist Yumkhaibam Gyaneshwor; Khangjrakpam Mani Driver memorial award to Khaidem Nanao; Thokchom Achou Integrity Award to Kabui Mothers' Association general secretary Ranjita Golmei; and Nongmaithem Beni Award to Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Co-ordinating Committee for Peace.

A sum of Rs 20,000 each along with shawl and citation were given to the awardees of Hijam Irawat Ningsing Mana, Thiyam Meghachandra Journalist Award and Moirangthem Ibohal Ningsing Mana, while the remaining awards included a sum of Rs 10,000, shawl and citation.
