Special legal camp opened at relief camp

A special legal aid and services camp was opened by Janggoulien Haokip, chief judicial magistrate and chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, on Saturday at the Greenwood Academy relief camp.
The launch event was attended by Mannuamching, special secretary to the gov-ernment of Manipur; Karthik Malladi, SP Churachandpur; and Thangboi Gangte, additional DC Churachandpur.
In this regard, CJM Janggoulien stated that the District Legal Services Authority has opened 103 legal assistance and service camps by engaging 103 volunteers un der the supervision of the Manipur State Legal Services Authority.
He continued that through the legal camp, volunteers would assist the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of relief camps in determining their needs in terms of FIRs and witnesses.
The CJM said if there were witnesses there, witness protection might be made available through the witness vulnerable scheme.
All of these projects are currently being handled by the District Legal Services Authority which will engage volunteers as long as all of these aid centres remain operational, according to the CJM.
All of the IDPs from the Greenwood Academy's relief camp attended the programme.
