Imphal, January 17 2024:
Meetei Council, Moreh (MCM) has urged the Prime Minister, Defence Minister and Home Minister of India as well as the Chief Minister of Manipur to take up immediate measures to flush out Kuki militants allegedly supported by Myanmar insurgents from Moreh.
A press release issued by L Brojendro Meetei, secretary, MCM vehemently condemned the coordinated attacks carried out by Kuki militants with the alleged support of Myanmar PDF on the security forces maintaining law and order at Moreh.
The statement said that the unrestrained attack was carried out using RPGs and mortar bombs which led to the killing of two security personnel and left four with injuries.
In the exchange of fire several buildings and properties were also damaged, MCM added.
"It is now evident that the Kuki militants supported by the Myanmar militants have waged war against the Indian security forces and it no longer remains a simple law and order problem in Moreh town", said MCM in its statement.
Highlighting the need for strong action from the side of the Government of India and Manipur, MCM has urged the Central and State leaders to take up immediate steps to flush out these militants and thus restore Moreh to the pre-1991 status and bring peace in Manipur.
