35th Biennial Conference of HSAI begins

The 35th Biennial Conference of the Home Science Association of India (HSAI Tura Chapter) was inaugurated on Wednesday by Agatha K Sangma, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha.
The 3-day conference is hosted by the Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal at the College of Post�Graduate Studies In Agricultural Sciences, Umiam, Meghalaya on the theme, "Multidisciplinary Approach in Home and Community Science for Sustainable Development" .
Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha; Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice Chancellor, CAU, Imphal; Prof Manoshi Roy Choudhary, Co-Chancellor, Techno India University, Kolkata and Dr Neelam Grewal,Vice President (North), HSAI also attended the inaugural function as presidium members.

The programme began with a welcome address delivered by Dr Jyoti V Vastrad, Dean, CCS, Tura highlighting the presence of participants from 24 States in the conference.
Addressing the gathering, Agatha K Sangma expressed how women have a direct impact in making a better planet and how the conference deals with sustainable communities.
She also remembered the contribution of late PA Sangma, former MP in establishing the College of Community Science, Tura, Meghalaya.
Dr Anupam Mishra highlighted the importance of Home science in many fields including entrepreneurship & health related knowledge and how it will impact the generations to come.
Dr Manoshi Roy Chodhury talked about how Artificial intelligence can be incorporated into Home Science and inclusion of Home Science course in Techno India University.
Kamakhya Prasad Tasa spoke about gender equality, gender bias and stressed on how research conducted should be put into practice to maximise the utility.
He also assured to help in conveying the findings of the Home Sciences to the Central Government and State Government so further goals can be achieved.
Notably, the conference will feature technical sessions with 35 lead speakers from across the country.
The programme includes approximately 120 oral presentations and 80 poster presentations.
The live stream of the Inaugural Function was viewed by the teaching and non-teaching staff of College of Agriculture, Iroisemba, CAU, Imphal.
