Resolve Moreh violence : Cong

The State Government must take up appropriate measures to end violence in Moreh and restore normalcy, said Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president K Meghachandra today.
Speaking to reporters at a press meet at Congress Bhavan today, K Meghachandra, who spoke after CLP leader Okram Ibobi, said Moreh at present is marred with violence and a personnel has been killed in an attack on security forces today.
Gunfights in Moreh and several other pockets of Manipur have not ceased.
The State Government must take up appropriate measures to end the violence restore normalcy, he said.
The MPCC president also lauded and thanked the people of Manipur for supporting Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Manipur's Khongjom to Mumbai.
He said the Yatra aims at bringing peace and justice to people.
When asked what the Congress thinks about the manner in which Rahul Gandhi was received at Kangpokpi during the Yatra, K Meghachandra said the party would look into the conduct of its party leaders and take appropriate actions if they are found to have violated the values, aims and objectives of the Yatra.
K Meghachandra was referring to Congress' ex-candidate Lamtinthang Haokip, who was part of the crowd who received Rahul Gandhi at Kangpokpi using banners that read "welcome to Kukiland" .
"The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is for peace, justice and safeguarding integrity.
If our party workers and leaders' conduct are found to have negated these objectives, Congress will take action against them," K Meghachandra said.
He said Chief Minister N Biren Singh calling Rahul Gandhi's Yatra "Bharat Todo Yatra" was unfortunate.
Earlier, Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Okram Ibobi spoke to the media persons and appreciated the people of Manipur for supporting Rahul Gandhi's Yatra.
"It is a historic Yatra that is neither political nor against the Government.
The Yatra aims to bring peace and justice to people," Ibobi said.
Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra kicked off from Khongjom on January 14.The Yatra will end in Mumbai.
