Imphal, January 17 2024:
Social activist Ashang Kasar has expressed strong resentment over the threat given to him and Tangkhul community for raising voices to stop the ongoing violence in the state.
Addressing the media at Manipur Press Club, here, on Wednesday, Ashang, who is also convenor of Forum for Restoration of Peace, Manipur (FRPM), said that he never took side of any particular community in the current situation other than campaigning for peace and integrity among the different communities living in the state.
Asserting that he has never challenged the Kuki community, Ashang termed as unfortunate, that an organisation called Kuki Zo Volunteers has threatened him and his community on false allegation of taking side with the Meeteis, which went viral on social media.
Ashang said that he is simply put up some historical facts while campaigning for peace and so making such threat to him and his community is a direct affront to the whole Tangkhul community.
He asked all concerned not to repeat such acts in future and also said that he will not remain silent but file complaint to the authority concerned.
He further said that levelling false allegations against him will not bring any good and urged Kuki Zo people to refrain from indulging in false propaganda.
Ashang also urged Kuki leaders to look into such threat stating that he or Nagas are not participant in the current crisis.
FRPM coordinator Romi Palmei, who was also present at the press meet, said that the Forum was formed to campaign for restoration of peace by resolving the crisis.
The Forum never took side with any particular community and they strongly condemn the threat against Ashang Kasar and Tangkhul community, he added.
