CoTU shutdown effective in Kangpokpi district

Kangpokpi, November 21 2023:
The 48-hour emergency total shutdown called by Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), Sadar Hills to protest the killing of two Kuki-Zo individuals in Kangpokpi district on Monday, was effectively enforced throughout the district.
The shutdown will conclude on November 22, 6 pm.
Volunteers were seen enforcing the shutdown along National Highway 2, and checking documents of vehicles exempted from the agitation and permitted passage.
Vehicles sans such documents were forced to turn back.
All shops and business establishments downed shutters, and educational institutions shut.
Road blockades on NH 2 were reported at various locations in the district, extending up to Gamgiphai.
No unwanted incidents have been reported by the time of filing this report.
