CoTU's shutdown total

Kangpokpi, November 21 2023:
The emergency total shutdown called by the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) following the death of two Kuki-Zo men in an ambush yesterday in Kangpokpi district witnessed stringent enforcement in the whole of Kangpokpi.
The 48 hours total shutdown will culminate at 6 pm on November 22 .
Volunteers were seen along National Highway 2 strictly enforcing the total shutdown.
They strictly scrutinized documents of exempted services and allowed them to pass, if found genuine.
The volunteers sent those vehicles back without genuine documents.
All shops and business establishments remained closed while educational institutions were also shut during the total shutdown.
Similarly, blocking of National Highway 2 was seen at various locations in Kangpokpi district till Gamgiphai.
Two Kuki-Zo men including a 6th IRB personnel were killed between Leilon Vaiphei and Kharam Vaiphei in the Kangchup area of Kangpokpi district on November 21 morning at around 9.30 for which CoTU blamed valley-based insurgent groups.
The CoTU while imposing the 48-hour emergency total shutdown in the whole of Kangpokpi sought intervention of the Central Government and handing over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
No untoward incidents were reported till the time of filing this report while there is also no sight of relaxation or withdrawal of the total shutdown on the part of the CoTU.
