Churachandpur, November 21 2023:
Displaced MBBS and BDS students of Churachandpur, mainly those pursuing MBBS at Churachandpur Medical College (CMC) took out a rally from Tuibong Bazar to DC Churachandpur office complex and staged protest on Tuesday as they are barred from appearing first year examination which commenced Tuesday.
The students also submitted a memorandum highlighting their grievances to the Governor Anusuiya Uikey through the additional DC (Churachandpur) Thang boi Gangte.
The memorandum said that 27 MBBS and two BDS tribal students of Churachandpur Medical College (CMC) displaced by the ongoing violence had filled up examination forms and deposited examination fees through DC Churachandpur.
The examination for BDS commenced from November 14 while that of MBBS on Tuesday.
However, in the last minute on November 13, BDS students were barred from appearing first year examination while only six out 27 MBBS students were issued admit cards and the rest excluded from the examination.
The students expressed remorse that their fellow displaced students from Churachandpur Medical College were allowed to continue studies at JNIMS centre uninterrupted while no such arrangement has been made for them.
Meanwhile, North East Students' Organisation (NESO) leaders Ejan Lotha (coordinator), NSF president Medovi, and NSF finance secretary Heiko Kent met the protesting students and assured to look into grievances of the medical students seriously.
