May Road inaugurated

Kimneo Haokip Hangshing, MLA Saikul Assembly Constituency inaugurated a road christened "May Road" to remember the reconciliation of the Kuki-Zo community after the Manipur mayhem in May.
The second road after Saparmeina - Saikul road, connecting the Saikul Sub-Division with the rest of the world via National Highway 2, the newly inaugurated May Road which is approximately 15 kilometres will serve as another important lifeline for the Saikul people with a shorter distance.
Though the road is yet to be blacktopped, the Finance Department formed under Kuki Inpi Saikul took the initiative to make the road motorable during the ongoing conflict in the State to provide better connectivity among the Kuki-Zo populace in Kangpokpi district.
The local MLA Kimneo Haokip Hangshing inaugurated the May Road in the presence of Kuki Inpi Saikul, Kuki Women Union Saikul, Kuki Students' Organization Saikul, and the Chiefs of the area.
While appreciating the initiative and efforts of the Kuki Inpi Saikul's Finance Department, and other civil society organizations of Saikul, the MLA conveyed her disappointment that many road development projects under various departments could not be materialized owing to the violence.
The MLA also encouraged the civil bodies of Saikul to continue working collectively for the welfare of the public and humanitarian services.
The local MLA flagged off the vehicles after Rev Seiminlen Haokip, Pastor KBC Centre Saikul dedicated the "May Road" for public use.
