Public urged to submit crisis related info to panel

Imphal, November 21 2023:
The state government has informed the public to submit information related with the ongoing ethnic clash to the Commission of Inquiry headed by former chief justice of Gauhati High Court Ajai Lamba, with retired IAS Himanshu Shekhar and retired IPS Aloka Prabhakar as its members.
The commission will enquire about the cause and spread of the violence which took place on May 3, and thereafter; sequence of events, and all the facts relating to such violence; lapses or dereliction of duty by authorities; adequacy of the administrative measures taken to prevent.
It will also take into consideration complaints or allegations made before the Commission by any individual, or association.
A notification issued in this regard by the state government invited all persons acquainted with the subject matter of the inquiry to furnish a statement on affidavit relating to all such matters personally to the secretary/ registrar of the Commission, or an official authorised by the Commission in this behalf, between 11 am to 1 pm on any working day, or may be sent by registered post with acknowledgement due, or speed post.
The affidavit should be typed on A4 size pa per on single side indicate at the top whether it is a statement or a complaint/ allegation.
The affidavits be attested by such court, judge, magistrate or persons who are empowered to administer oath in terms of Section 3 of The Oaths Act, 1969, and be drawn ordinarily in English, or along with true Translation into English (in case of other language), as well as a soft copy of the affidavit and relied documents in a pen drive/CD in PDF format, along with the five hard copies.
The statement, complaint or allegation by way of affidavit should be furnished to the Commission within 45 days of the issuance of the notification.
