Kangpokpi, August 10 2026:
Two days after Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh's visit to Kangpokpi, three residential houses at Kailenjang village were set ablaze by unknown persons today.
The arson took place at around 11 am .
Kailenjang is a village located in the border area between Kangpokpi and Senapati districts.
According to locals, the arson was carried out by unknown armed assailants.
Sources said there were no reports of any gunshots fired in the incident.
The three houses which were set ablaze belonged to village chief Nengneichong Chongloi, Kamkhohao Chongloi and Helthang Haokip.
Valuable belongings, household articles and important documents stored inside the houses were destroyed in the blaze, the residents said.
No casualty was reported in the incident.
Security personnel rushed to the area following the attack and are monitoring the situation, sources said.
The incident has raised questions over the effectiveness of security deployment in the vulnerable fringe areas, particularly as a section of the CRPF was reportedly stationed in the village when the attack took place.
Notably, the arson occurred today while Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam was meeting members of Naga frontal organisations headed by the United Naga Council (UNC) over the prolonged economic blockade at Senapati.
