Imphal, July 24 2023: The All India Mahila Congress Committee (AIMCC) has categorically stated that the Central Government and the State Government should be held accountable for the protracted violence raging through Manipur and its consequences.

Notably, AIMCC president Netta Antoinette D'Souza made a three-day visit to Manipur in connection with the ongoing violence.

Speaking to media persons before leaving Manipur at Hotel Yaiphaba, MG Avenue here today, Netta Antoinette D'Souza said that both the Central Government and the State Govern- ment must pay special attention to relief camps and the people taking shelter there.

She said that women and children living in relief camps have been facing lots of hardships.

Netta Antoinette D'Souza said that she had visited several relief camps and made a spot assessment of the requirements of the displaced people.

Women and children have been living under a very pathetic condition at relief camps, she said.

The Government should ensure sufficient healthcare facilities as well as medicines to all displaced people, she continued.

Moreover, psychological counselling should be given to the traumatised inmates of relief camps so as to ensure their mental wellbeing, she said.

Netta Antoinette D'Souza asserted that Chief Minister N Biren should take up tangible actions with a firm determination to end the violence and bring peace in the State.

Taking strong exception to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence on the Mani-pur violence, the AIMCC president said Modi should never forget that Manipur is a part of India.

Saying that all the people of Manipur are now suffering untold misery, she urged the Prime Minister to work out a solution and restore peace in the strife-torn State.

If Chief Minister N Biren is not in a position to bring an end to the violence, he must step down, Netta Antoinette D'Souza said.

Any effort to bring peace between the conflicting groups needs a strong political will on the part of the Government, she said.

She asserted that a solution can be worked out only when there is peace in the State.

The Government should invite the conflicting parties to a negotiating table and facilitate dialogue, she said.

At the same time, the Government should work on sending back the displaced people from relief camps to their homes by providing adequate security, Netta Antoinette D'Souza added.
