Imphal, July 22 2023:
The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO), Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur and the All Manipur Women Voluntary Association have categorically told Mizoram to stay away from the affairs of Manipur, particularly the current crisis.
Speaking to media persons at their Kwakeithel office this afternoon, AMUCO president Pheiroijam Nando Luwang said that the notice given by certain Mizoram based organisation to Meiteis living in Mizoram to leave the State has created a panicky and anxious situation among the Meiteis of Manipur and other Northeastern States.
Given this notice, the Government of Mizoram and the people of Mizoram should take up adequate security measures for the safety of Meiteis living in their State, Nando said.
He also appealed to the Meitei people of Manipur, Assam and other States not to adopt any hasty decisions in connection with the latest developments.
People from different quarters have been working hard to end the violence raging in Manipur.
Mizoram Government must check all activities/attempts aimed at escalating the crisis, the AMUCO president said.
If violence erupts in peaceful Mizoram, it would spread to other Northeastern States, he said.
The Government of India must work sincerely to end the Manipur violence, and the Governments and peoples of the Northeastern States should cooperate with the Government of India in this effort, Nando said.
He again appealed to the Meitei people of Manipur and Assam not to take any hasty decision with regard to the developments unfolding in Mizoram.
He also appealed to all the people not to target or harass any one from Mizoram who are studying or working in Manipur.
