Kpi, July 22 2023:
After a lengthy discussion over its ultimatum, the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) Sadar Hills decided to launch various forms of intense agitations from July 24 over the naked parading of two Kuki-Zo women.
CoTU had earlier served a 48-hour ultimatum to the Central government to book all the culprits involved in the May 4 incident, which lapsed at 6 pm Saturday.
CoTU general secretary Lammin-lun Singsit said that the ultimatum evoked no positive response as the government failed to nab all the culprits involved in the heinous crime.
He continued that punishment for such heinous crime is death and the delay in booking the culprits will invite a delay in justice which can also provide chances for the culprits to escape the law.
Accordingly, CoTU decided to launch a series of intense stir from July 24 with a massive rally at Saikul, he added.
Though the committee does not reveal what the intense stir would be as of now, sources informed that the committee might intensify its stir to the extent of completely blocking National Highway-2 road again.
