Imphal, July 22 2023:
Claiming that the present 'proxy war' is the fallout of the alleged annexation of Mani-pur (Kangleipak) and impo- sition of a Constitution which is alien and divisive to the people of Manipur (Kanglei-pak), the Coordination Com- mittee (CorCom) has urged both the parties in conflict viz; Meiteis and the Kukis to shun violence.
In a statement issued by its publicity committee, CorCom urged the Meiteis to stop targeting innocent people in the valley and the Kukis to stop harassing innocent people of other com- munities in hill areas, specially in Kangpokpi and Moreh.
"We want all the warring groups to respect Universal Human Rights and stop destroying the lives and pro- perties of innocent people," CorCom advised.
It is very saddening that for more than two and half months have passed and the people of Manipur (Kanglei-pak) are drawn helplessly into the vortex of a proxy war, it said and claimed that 'this proxy war' was carefully designed by the Indian administration to subdue the genuine struggle for the sovereignty and independence of Manipur (Kangleipak) with sheer military power.
Claiming that the violence in Manipur is the fallout of the alleged annexation of Manipur (Kangleipak) and imposition of the Constitution of India to the people of Manipur (Kangleipak), CorCom accused the 'alien rulers' of playing "divide and destroy" policy amongst the ethnic communities of Manipur (Kangleipak) as well as its adjoining region to wreak havoc on the lives of the people.
The committee went on to claim that the people of Manipur (Kangleipak) are in a death-trap of 'Hate Game' plotted by India and its henchmen as the present conflict drags on.
Many innocent people especially women and children are becoming the inevitable victim of 'Hate Crime' in this proxy war, it added.
Saying that the Committee condemns the inhuman parading of two innocent women and all forms of hate crimes, CorCom said that the perpetrators must be punished.
CorCom then appealed to all the communities of Manipur (Kangleipak) to let sanity prevail and stop targeting innocent people to defend the unity of Manipur (Kangleipak) .
"We are fighting to regain our lost sovereignty so that we can have self-rule and Constitution, which will safeguard and fulfil the aspirations of all the ethnic groups of Manipur (Kangleipak)", CorCom claimed and added they are also fighting all elements both internal and external, who challenge the integrity and sovereignty of Manipur (Kangleipak) .
