Imphal, July 22 2023:
All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has urged the Mizoram government and its people to ensure safety of the Meitei community settling in that state in the wake of an organisation of former militants asking the Meitei people to leave the state for their "own safety" .
Addressing media persons at its Kwakeithel office here on Saturday, AMUCO president P.Nando regretted that Mizoram is getting involved and interfering in the issues of Manipur.
He also appealed to the Meitei community settling in Manipur and outside to not take any decisions hastily in light of the issues and problems being faced by the Meiteis settling in Mizoram at the moment.
The AMUCO president also appealed to the Mizoram government to initiate talks with individuals and organisations in the state who are trying to escalate the tense situation and prevent occurring of any unwanted incidents.
To prevent further escalation of the tension in Manipur it is imperative for the Mizoram government to exercise restraint, Nando stressed.
AMUCO also appealed to the people of Manipur not to target the Mizos who are engaged in various institutions and departments of Manipur.
