Kakching, July 22 2023:
'Prime Minister Narendra Modi opening up on Manipur's crisis based on a video clip after maintaining oppressive silence for more than 75 days ignoring all crimes against humanity is an act of total discrimination' .
The above statement was made by Ningthouja Lancha, Langsai Thouna spokesperson while speaking at a Fambei (people's assembly) held at Kaching yesterday evening.
He maintained that the act shown in the video is gruesome and highly condemnable however the surfacing of the video which happened in May last just before the starting of the monsoon session of the Parliament is highly questionable.
Lancha went on to assert that 'Using women's body as a tool to politicise an issue is more abominable than the actual incident itself' .
Commenting on a particular incident sidelining all the atrocities in the form of killings, arson, displacement of thousands etc meted out to the Meiteis since May 3 last is an act of humiliation to those bravehearts who have laid their lives for their motherland, Lancha opined.
He went on to state that 'the Prime Minister's statement based on a single incident is an act against the Meiteis and the State' .
His statement may mislead the world and put the Meitei community in the wrong light, he added.
However he expressed belief that the world may be knowing that the Meiteis are only defending themselves against the offensive of aggressors led by narco-terrorists and their supportive forces.
Speaking at the occasion, Langsai Thouna Kakching Convenor Rajiv Kshetri said that the people's assembly has been held to take firm resolutions for the well-being of Meiteis.
With an aim to dwell on measures to solve the ongoing crisis, a signature campaign has been started from Kakching which will be carried out in other areas as well.
The people's assembly was attended by thousands of Meira Paibis and locals of Kakching and carried out candlelight vigil and paid floral tributes to all the martyrs.
Resolutions such as to boycott the Prime Minister since he has failed to intervene timely to resolve Manipur's crisis were also taken during the assembly.
