AMWJU, EGM condemn torching of scribes' houses at Moreh

All Manipur Working Journalists' Union {AMWJU) and Editors' Guild Manipur (EGM) have strongly condemned the burning down of houses belonging to media correspondents residing in Moreh, which were amongst the many houses set on fire by Kuki mob on Wednesday.
According to a joint release of AMWJU gnd EGM issued Friday, the houses of around 7/8 correspondents of various state dailies and electronic media houses, residing in different wards and localities of Moreh, were destroyed in the fire.
Kuki miscreants first looted the residences of Poknapham/The People's Chronicle correspondent Lairenlakpam Maipak and Naharolgi
Thoudang correspondent S Santipur at Moreh Tali Lambi, Imphal Free Press correspondent Ashem Lalit of Heinoumakhong, DDK correspondent B Ramchandra Sharma of Moreh Bazar, AIR correspondent Leishangthem Brojendro of Moreh Premnagar; ISTV News correspondent Sagolsem Sanjoy, Impact TV correspondent Maibam Inaocha and Sanaleibak correspondent Yumnam Mangang of Moreh Turel Wangma, and then set their houses on fire.
The area where the houses were set ablaze has substantial presence and deployment of Assam Rifles and other paramilitary forces.
However, the security personnel did not try to prevent the incident from happening, the two bodies alleged, and urged the security advisor of the Manipur Government to provide an answer for the inaction.
