Imphal, July 28 2023:
With the last location of Hijam Lu-wangbi Linthoingambi and Phijam Hemjit, who have gone missing since July 6, confirmed to be in Kuki dominated area of Lamdan under Churachandpur district according to cyber-crime report, parents of the two students have pointed fingers at involvement of Kuki behind their disappearance.
Addressing media persons at Tera Tongbram Leikai on Friday, Hemjit's father Phijam Ibungobi said that his son along with Lu-wangbi went missing after they went out of home on July 6 .
There is high possibility of the involvement of Kukis behind their disappearance as the mobile phone of Hemjit was last located in Lamdan area which is a Kuki dominated area according to reports received by the cyber-crime unit.
Considering the tender age of his son and Linthoingambi, he appealed to the Kuki 'brothers' to hand over the students to their parents.
He also urged authority concerned to trace the whereabouts of the missing duo at the earliest and help ease suffering of the parents.
Hijam Kulajit, father of Linthoingambi, also stated that since the last location of the students has been identified as Lamdan area after tracking their mobile phone by the cyber-crime unit of Manipur, possibility of involvement of Kukis in the case has been confirmed.
Therefore, the state government should trace their whereabouts and hand them over to the family members at the earliest possible.
Meitei Ereicha kanba Athouba Salai Taret secretary general Yumkham Simond who was also present during the press meet termed as lamentable statement that it would be not safe for the police to enter Lamdan area due to the prevailing situation and that search would be possible as and when the tension subsides.
The whereabouts of the missing duo should be traced by July 30 failing which the organisation would launch various forms of intense agitation along with student bodies, Simond cautioned.
