AMWJU, EGM come out strongly against Moreh arson

The All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) and the Editors Guild Manipur (EGM) have come out strongly against the recent arson at Indo-Myanmar border town Moreh including residents of news correspondents.
AMWJU and EGM have learnt that residents of 7/8 correspondents of various media establishments in Imphal, located in different wards of Moreh were among the houses reduced to cinders on July 26 in Moreh amid heavy presence of Central security personnel, a joint statement of the two bodies said.
Houses of Poknapham Correspondent Lairenlakpam Maipak at Moreh Tali Lambi; Imphal Free Press Correspondent Asem Lalit at Moreh Heinoumakhong; DDK Correspondent B Ramchandra Sharma of DDK Imphal; AIR Correspondent Leishangthem Brojendro at Moreh Premnagar; ISTV News Correspondent Sagolshem Sanjoy, Impact TV Correspondent Maibam Inaocha and Sanaleibak Correspondent Yumnam at Moreh Turel Wangma were gutted after valuable properties were allegedly looted, the bodies said.
AMWJU and EGM also noted that all these residences fell under zones highly secured by Central security forces including Assam Rifles.
Citing the apprehension of inaction on the part of the Central security personnel in controlling the mob and the arson, the two bodies also asked for a reply from the State Government's Security Advisor regarding the security lapses on July 26 at Moreh.
