Imphal, July 28 2023:
While demanding to set up permanent police outpost at Tatbung village, Tousem Area Students' Organisation (TASO) has asked authorities concerned to look into the matter seriously with prompt action within this month.
In an ultimatum submitted to CM N Biren through Tamen-glong deputy commissioner, TASO pointed out that Tousem Sub Division has Assam and Nagaland states on its western and northern borders respectively.
The security post is indispensable to safeguard and ensure sense of normalcy 'to the people.
However, people have a sense of foreboding when they are denied protection, it continued, while observing that there is likelihood of increase in breakdown of law and order mechanism especially in the southern region of Tousem sub division if government fails to set up permanent police out post at Tatbung village immediately.
It is also hard to digest why Tousem sub-division SDPO post is left vacant despite repeated petitions to government officials concerned, TASO said, while contending that the people feel alienated when the government shows insensitivity towards their genuine demand.
Authority concerned should look into the matter seriously with prompt action within this month, the organisation demanded while cautioning that they will not be responsible for any unwanted incidents in the near future.
