Imphal, July 28 2023:
Condemning the interference in the affairs of Manipur, My Manipur on Thursday staged protest against Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga at Kangla Western gate.
The protestors tried to burn the effigy of Mizoram CM but were foiled by police deployed in the area.
Speaking in this regard, My Manipur spokesperson Man-gangleima Salainganbi strongly condemned the Zoramthanga for interfering in Manipur's affairs and making disrespecting remarks of Manipur CM.
She further denounced the move of Mizoram CM to disintegrate North East states and disrupt the territory of Manipur.
CM Biren, fondly referred to as the people's CM, has been campaigning against poppy plantation, protect reserve forest and flush out illegal immigrants.
However, the disagreement to fence border and support Burmese and Kuki militants by Zoramthanga showed that he fully supports narco-terrorism.
As such, the government of India should implement NRC in the state and flush out illegal immigrant at the earliest so as to restore peace and normalcy in the state.
On the other hand, MeiraPaibi of Khurai Kongpal Sajor Leikai, Khurai Kongpal Ningthoubung Leikai and Khurai Kongpal Laishram Leikai burned the effigy of Mizoram CM Zoramthanga at Khurai Tinsid Road Kongpal Thongkhong on Thursday, denouncing his disrespectful remarks towards CM Biren and for trying to interfere in another state's internal matters.
The Meira Paibi members also announced indefinite boycott of CM Zoramthanga for inciting exodus of Meitei from Mizoram.
They also shouted slogans like "Manipur's integrity cannot be disturbed ", and "Mizoram CM Zoramthanga should stay out of Manipur's affairs" .
Expressing dismay over Zoramthanga's silence and inaction on the provocative placards and slogans raised against Manipur during the solidarity march in Mizoram, sportsper-sons of Manipur burned effigy of the Mizoram CM at Khuman Lampak on Friday condemning his intervention in the internal affairs of Manipur.
The sports players from various parts of state and across various disciplines demonstrated against Zoramthanga by burning down his effigy and chanting slogans like "Stop harassing Meitei in Mizoram', "Zoramthanga mind your own business", "Don't interfere in our internal matters", etc.
Speaking to media persons, some of the protesting players pointed out that as sportsper-sons they would prefer to challenge Mizoram in fight in true sportsmanship style on the field with a sense of fair play.
The current crisis situation in the state has caused a lot hardship for sportspersons who are especially training for championships and tournaments, they added.
