Relief items distributed; medical camps conducted

Imphal, November 01 2023: Imphal West deputy commissioner Th Kirankumar Singh on Tuesday flagged off relief items donated by Patanjali from Imphal West DC complex.

The relief materials will be distributed to relief centres in Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Tengnoupal districts.

The donation was made by Patanjali, the National Resource Organisation of DAY-NRLM under the initiative of Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission (MSRLM) .

With a commitment to help the most vulnerable section of the society, Patanjali has donated goods worth Rs 1 crore to support children and infants residing in relief camps across the state.

Recognising the urgent need for basic nutrition, the contribution of Patanjali aims to ensure that the young receive proper nourishment during their stay.

The flag-off function was also attended by MSRLM state mission director N Bandana Devi, officials and staff.

Meanwhile, Bishnupur district administration and Apunba Tengbang Lup, Bishnupur distributed blankets to inmates of relief camp run by them at the Old Mini Secretariat Complex.

The distribution programme was attended by Lup secretary M Bilky and SDO Bishnupur L Rishikanta.

On the other hand, Ramakrishna Mission, Imphal, distributed two winter blankets each, for all the 183 families residing at the newly constructed Prefabricated Temporary Shelter Home at Mandop Yumpham, Inter State Truck Terminus (ISTT) Complex, Imphal West district.

As per a release, all the expectant mothers staying in the camp were provided two packages each of Mother s Plus Horlicks while stationery items were distributed to the students.

Relief items were also distributed to families taking shelter in relief camps at Awang Leikinthabi, under Lamsang assembly constituency and SC Boys' Hostel of Sardar Patel High School, Khurkhul Makha Leikai, Imphal West, it added.

The release further mentioned that on October 29, relief items were provided for more than 100 internally displaced families staying in the relief camps at Sunusipahi Upper Primary School and Phubala High School, Bishnupur district.

Meanwhile, troops of the Red Shield Division provided relief items and medical aid to internally displaced people in S Kotlian, Churachandpur district on October 30.According to PIB Defence, a dedicated team of medical staff under the supervision of Indian Army medical officers and Assam Rifles organised a medical camp and distributed much-needed relief material, benefiting 104 people.

The release also mentioned that Red Shield Division undertook an initiative of providing medical aid to the villagers of Thayong.

Over 200 villagers from Thayong and surrounding areas were screened and provided with essential medicines at the day-long medical camp held on October 30 .
